Govt to launch smart device for reading textbooks

The school students could read the books on a smart device soon as the government has taken initiative to make available multimedia version of national curriculum and text books on smart device, reports BSS.

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) and mobile phone company Symphony have reached an understanding on January 23 to launch an educational smart device for the school students to read curriculum and the textbooks.

The understanding was reached between MoICT and Symphony Mobile at a meeting held in the conference room of MoICT with its Secretary N I Khan in the chair.

Director (sales) of Symphony Mobile Rezoanul Huq and officials of MoICT were present.

As per understanding Symphony Mobile in collaboration with MoICT will build the educational smart device for the school students while another firm Smart Start will work as content partner.

“We have taken such initiative to make students easy access to text books and curriculum on smart device using internet,” NI Khan said.

He said the learners perceiving capacity will enhance as the multimedia version of the book will contain animated picture.

“This will bring a revolutionary change in the existing education system as the teachers could connect his device with the devices of the students using internet to check the class and home works,” the secretary added.

Rezoanul Huq said this smart device will minimise the printing cost of books due to available of books in the smart devices.
