National Rabindra Sangeet Sammilian and annual conference of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilian Parishad (JRSSP) concluded in Pabna on Saturday with a resolution to remove communalism and nefarious elements from the nation. The three-day Rabindra congregation, inaugurated on Thursday morning at Pabna Edward College premises, concluded on Saturday night. Around 700 representatives of JRSSP across the country joined the conference.
“We have to ensure that Tagore compositions are preserved with their original melody. Reciting poems from Rabindranath must be perfect,” said Dr. Sanjida Khatun, president of JRSSP.
Earlier a seminar, chaired by Dr. Sanjida Khatun, was held with the title ”Rabindra ideology to develop rural agriculture’.
Professor Nurul Anwar read out the keynote paper on the seminar while educationist Professor Md. Nurunnabi and Professor Md. Kamruzzaman spoke on the occasion. The speakers said Rabindranath Tagore was not only a poet but a social reformer as well. In the 18th century he conceived a plan of promoting   ultra-poor farmers and introduced banking among them.
Earlier, the JRSSP members across the country led by Laisa Ahmed Lisa, secretary of the organisation paid homage to language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar, Pabna.
The concluding day’s discussion, award giving ceremony and cultural programme began on Saturday evening with the lighting of candles. Noted cultural activist Ramendu Majumder lit candles with the vow to remove communalism in the country.
Prominent Tagore artist Amoresh Roy of Rajshahi was awarded for his immense contribution to Rabindra Sangeet. Noted artist Mostafa Monwar handed over the award to the veteran artiste.
A discussion was held on the occasion chaired by Dr. Sanjida Khatun. Noted artist Mostafa Monwar spoke as the chief guest. Among others, secretary of JRSSP Laisa Ahmed Lisa, president of JRSSP, Pabna principal Md. Nurunnabi, secretary Abdul Matin Khan were the discussants.
The speakers stressed on the need to promote communal harmony by eliminating darkness of communalism. Rabindranath symbolises Bengali nationalism. Taking a lesson from Tagore we have to start our movement, the speakers said.
The annual conference of JRSSP kicked off in Pabna with veteran language veteran and journalist Ronaish Maitra inaugurating the event by lighting the mongol pradip.
Earlier the programme began with, ‘O Amar Desher Mati’ rendered by around 75 artistes from across the country.
The opening discussion chaired by Sanjida Khatun, president of JRSSP was addressed among others by convener of JRSSP festival organising committee Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, Secretary of JRSSP Laisa Ahmed Lisa focused on the value of the event.
On the second day of the festival the artistes and delegates visited Shahzadpur Kuthibari in Sirajganj. A cultural programme was organised at the Kuthibari while the local and national artistes performed songs, dances and recited poems.
