Your passport is a valuable document. It should always be either in your own custody or in the custody of a person duly authorized by you. If lost or destroyed, the fact and circumstances should be immediately reported to the nearest Bangladesh Embassy and to the local police.
PLEASE KEEP A PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR PASSPORT IN A SAFE PLACE. WITHOUT THESE DETAILS ISSUANCE OF A DUPLICATE PASSPORT MAY BE DELAYED.
It is an offense to give false information in the Application. Passport facilities can be denied on grounds of suppression of factual information, submission of false particulars, willful damage of passport and for making unauthorized changes in the passports.
The Embassy of Bangladesh is pleased to allocate a dedicated timeframe for responding to all consular queries over telephone. You are requested to call 202-244-0183 and dial the following extensions for specific queries mentioned against each extension:
a) Ext: 105 – Passport and Re-issue of Passport;
b) Ext: 115 – Passport related queries on AFIS, Demo, Re-issue Investigation/Justification, Black-list, Police Approval, if any;
d) Ext: 119 – DNC (Dual Nationality Certificate);
e) Ext: 119 – Travel Permit/Document;
f) Ext: 121 – Window for receiving and returning all kinds of documents, including MRP, Visa, NVR, Dual Nationality Certificate, Travel Permit/Document etc;
g) Ext: 329 – If applicant face tough difficulty to reach above numbers so please call.
WALK-IN: Applications for services (Like issue of new/duplicate passports, renewals and miscellaneous services on Passports, VISA, NVR, Dual Nationality Certificate, Travel Permit/Document etc) are accepted between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Delivery time is between 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. No application is received after 1:00 PM except in the cases of emergencies, such as death or illness in the family.
SERVICE BY MAIL: Outstation applicants may send their application for passport/consular service by mail. You must add a return envelope, which, if you are using a courier service must be prepaid by cash, or, if you are using postal service must contain postal stamps in the appropriate amount, with your address on it (preferably USPS express/priority and certified). Please put it to the attention of the Passport & Visa Section. We will not accept a return envelope unless it is prepaid by cash or does not contain stamps in the appropriate amount. Payment by credit card or account numbers will not be accepted as, in the past, we had experiences where the recipient’s credit card or account declined payment and the courier billed this Embassy (the sender) as a policy. However, applications for duplicate passport in lieu of lost/damaged passport are accepted only in person. Such applications are not accepted or dispatched by mail.
Please note that any mail received before 10:00 am on a working day will be deemed as received on that day. Mails received after 10:00 am on a working day will be treated as received on the following working day.
THE EMBASSY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DOCUMENTS LOST IN MAIL. PASSPORT SHOULD NOT BE SENT OUT OF ANY COUNTRY BY POST.
FEE: Please tender the exact amount in the form of Nonrefundable Money order/Bank Draft/Certified Check/Cashier Check payable to the ‘Embassy of Bangladesh’. Personal checks or Cash are not accepted. NO REFUNDS: Fees, once received, cannot be refunded, even if the application is withdrawn or service cannot be rendered.
PROCESSING TIME: This is given with the related forms. This time schedule does not apply to services for which reference has to be made to competent authorities in Bangladesh.
The Embassy will get in touch with applicants in cases where the applications are incomplete/ incorrect, the fees sent are not adequate or not paid in the acceptable manner or where there are other deficiencies.
